Not the greatest of news.

Due to the irreparable corruption of the Embassy’s PDF authoring software, the December 15th release date for the final cut of “Honor and Sacrifice” (“HandS”) may be pushed back some. We regret any frustration or inconvenience this may cause people.

If you wish to be on the mailing list for the first hard copy release, we are still compiling that, just send Koi the best email for you. We will not be using this list for anything but an announcement regarding the paperback release; other information will continue to be announced here first.

As always, we continually welcome feedback from the readers… it would be nice if it was not as quiet here because spammers would think they had less a chance of getting their phony posts through and I would not have to kill file so much spam every day.

Cheers.

Errata

Could I please have an astrum who can edit?

Hey guys. Parthenos here. I’d like to apologize for all the typos in the most recent installment. Our translator seems to have been a bit… circumstantially impaired… during the last editing spree and the secondary editor is only an inferior AI.

We’d still like to hear your reactions if you can kindly ignore the mistakes. If you feel that you need errata (that is to say, the corrected copy), just ask.

We know you’ll understand; there will always be bugs in Star Assault.

*The above is the best piece of pure Tribes fan art to date, IMO. Parth may feel differently… <3 Ann

It’s a wrap!

Tribes of Heaven book one

Honor & Sacrifice

Well… it’s finished. At least, the serialized version has hit its inevitable conclusion. The final chapters have been sent out to all the supporters and subscribers minus two.

The complete final edit of “Honor and Sacrifice” will be available as a single PDF and then a print version after mid December 2011. If you are dying to have it right now today, please email me and we’ll work something out.

If you are/were a subscriber and feel you are missing chapters, do not hesitate to email:

New Profiles

First, the youngest of the Mior veterans, Jaahyden. Most readers will spend some of the rest of the book wondering, “Why does that guy even still have a job!?”

It’s a valid question.

Prima Donna Bug Jock, Anyone?

Little snot

Little snot in a racing uniform

While scanning, cleaning, and double checking the images for the profiles I’ll be uploading tonight (Captain Jaahyden and Master Thiel, finally; they’re very excited to mmmmmeat you ER…meet…to meet you) I found this old (but still accurate) image of Draumietj Lucien (89th Star Assault’s twitchy surgical prodigy).

We meet Draumietj very briefly in book one (giving Sol’s dad an exam). This drawing depicts him back in his Intergalaxy, pre-hair-bleaching days. He’s sitting in a lecture in school, and was likely just caught texting instead of paying attention; he doesn’t think he needs to pay attention because he’s a genius. Typical. Anyway. The reason I’m posting this is reference for myself; he’s wearing a standard Gen Racing uniform sans vest (the straps visible at his waist are the upper part of the overalls); the observant will note this is precisely what Parthenos is wearing in the “mysterious photograph” (described in chapter six). Mind you, young Mr. Parthenos is tall and scrawny, and will probably not sport them as well as Draumietj does. Draumietj is also a pro team racer; he’s probably fortunate the 17th has a surgeon they really like, since Parthenos would hate him a lot.

Now there’s a Ma’at Shi fight I’d pay to see. ^__^

Questions for Readers

(If you aren’t up to date – the current update is here or you can drop an email in the comments if you need to receive installments prior to #6; if you are starting from #1, a subscription costs $5 but gets you the entire book mailed to you… if you are subscribed and are missing chapters, it means I misplaced your mail so you should contact me and say which ones you are missing! #7 will drop near the end of the month and that will wrap the digital serialization of book one. That is to say, the end is nigh; next installment is the last before the book is edited and sent off for layout for print publication.)

Due to a message I received off the blog this weekend, I am kind of curious to know how the other readers are feeling about Major Parthenos in light of his fairly heavy presence in the current episode. Has your opinion of him changed since we met him early in the book? For the better or…?

Also kind of curious about what people think about Sheriden in general, and if anyone has figured out where Wyvern is… without me having to draw a big chaotic cartoon full of elves and have you find the one with the striped sweater and the screwy black hair.

New installment.

Feel our mercy.

Feel our mercy.

Installment six, aka, chapters 15-17 (three of the last six) of “Honor and Sacrifice”, are available to download, for free, off a link enclosed in this post.

If you are a new reader, we warn you that you may not want to do this. These three chapters are spoiler heavy; I do not feel that they ruin the book so much as, if you read them and then go back and read the story that gives them their weight, you will spend a good deal of time screaming at characters who cannot hear you. Also, you may find the whole thing wildly confusing, possibly even incomprehensible, without the other 14 chapters.

The final three chapters of the book will be available only to paid subscribers. If you have been buying the chapters piecemeal and want to get caught up, please contact me privately. Thank you.

With no further adieu, to-do, doo doo, but maybe some hoo-doo, have a free installment of Tribes of Heaven:

Delayed installment warning

Update: The new installment will be available Friday, 10/06. The subscriber email list was being stored on my cell phone, which drowned somewhat unceremoniously in a boiling hot cup of coffee. If you are expecting an installment please drop an email or note. If you’d like to start reading from chapter one, simply Paypal $5 US to “deathmerchant at earthlink dot net” except turn that into a real email by removing the spaces and replacing the at and dot as appropriate.

So, to kill some time… What’s everyone think of the story so far? :)
